An adult titanoboa is at least 80 feet long and weighs 6,000 lb. When two titanoboas nest, the result is a brood of a half-dozen smaller snakes (giant constrictor snakes). They live for hundreds of years and never stop growing, which makes the need for propagation less urgent. Against groups of foes, titanoboas trust in their ability to dazzle their enemies with the light reflected from their scales, using this distraction to entwine the stunned foes in crushing coils. This is a solution where a server and special ASIO driver is installed. We have recently tested JPlay (JPlay Femto). The well-known manufacturer of audio PC accessories. But we are going to test that a bit more thoroughly. We have never noticed that it sounds better or worse than, say, JRiver. But the fact is: it’s free and it works like a charm. Whether it is better than the other, good, music players, we do not know. Many users of Foobar say that the playback is very good. Even DSD support is included, which is quite unique. So you can add ASIO, Wasapi, RAM buffers, CD writer or visual effects. Now there are plenty of players, but what makes Foobar very interesting is that it is expandable with numerous plugins (Components). Handy! Foobarįoobar is a free music package. In other words: JRiver can send music to other – UPnP / OpenHome – players and can control them. It is also a server and controller application. How JRiver’s DSP is, we dare not say: we have not really tried it.Īs with Kodi, JRiver can do more than playback. Even the DSP of Roon is not world-shakingly good. Be careful with DSPs, transcoding and sample rate conversions, because their quality varies greatly. Think of numerous DSP options and even room correction is possible. It’s also for music, video and photos, but the control options go much further. JRiver is a paid package that really goes much further than Kodi. Kodi also works as a UPnP server and can be controlled with all UPnP / OpenHome controller apps. Especially since they also have an app that allows you to just turn off the screen. Kodi is not intended for the ultra-critical listener, but for those looking for a fine, free (!) all-in-one solution with numerous expansion options, Kodi is a fine solution. Especially if you set the quality in the audio menu to high and combine it with a package like Fidelizer (free version, but paid gives more options). It is not primarily focused on playback quality, but your author can guarantee that it is fine in that area. This is really a media package for video, audio and photos. One package that has been around for a long time is Kodi – formerly XBMC. Bottom line: why not install good software that does its job better than iTunes or Windows Media Player (ugh…). Otherwise there were usb to coax interfaces. These have been around for a while every decent manufacturer already had a converter. Think of: JPlay, JRiver, Foobar (with the right extension), Audirvana and, for example, Kodi. The reason it’s a bit forced is that a lot of software not only handles the playback side, but also the server side.Ĭonsider BubbleUPnP – cited on the previous page – which serves not only as a server, but also as a controller app and renderer (playback side). So we’re going to try to keep it a little short. It feels a little crazy and forced to cover software separately here. In many tropical frogs, the males have brighter more vibrant colors. In Bullfrogs, the males are larger and have a larger tympanum (these are ears-the circles located directly behind the eyes). In certain species, it can be easy to tell the difference. The throats of many male frogs are darker than the females. Males also call to attract females and defend their territory, so if you see a frog calling it is probably a male. But in many species, the female is larger than the male and the males sometimes have larger toe pads used during mating to grab onto the female. It can be really hard to tell the males from the females because the sex organs are internal for both males and females. How can you tell the difference between male and female frogs? Frogs eat their prey whole and their eyeballs actually sink down into their mouth and push the food down into their throat. How do frogs swallow?įrogs use their eyeballs to swallow. Do frogs drink water?įrogs do not drink like we do they absorb water directly through their skin in an area known as the ‘drinking patch’ located on their belly and the underside of their thighs. This adaptation may also be important in a frogs’ ability to locate where other sounds are coming from. This allows frogs to make really loud sounds without hurting their own eardrums! The lungs are capable of doing this by equalizing the pressure differences between the outer surface of the eardrum and the inner surface of the eardrum. The lungs vibrate and are almost as sensitive to hearing as the eardrum. Their eardrum works like a regular eardrum with one very special adaptation…it is actually connected to their lungs. The size of the tympanum and the distance between them are relative to the frequency and wavelength of the species male call. Some frogs have small tympanums, while others have ones that are larger than their eyes. The frog ear is called a tympanum and is the circle you see behind a frog’s eye. However, they do have eardrums and an inner ear. How do frogs hear?įrogs do not have external ears like us. It is known that they close their eyes, but no confirming brain scans have determined whether or not they actually have a true sleep period. Nobody really knows! At this point in time, there has been very little research in frog sleep patterns. ![]() When the weather warms up, they wake up and their heart and breathing will resume normally.
